Full story
We are an organization that was born as a result of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the humanitarian crisis caused by two meteorological phenomena, hurricanes Eta and Iota that hit Honduras in November 2020. The victims not only lived through the ravages of the hurricanes , they were also experiencing the economic and psychological impact of the coronavirus.
Moved by the suffering of the victims of Honduras who were crying out for help in the midst of their misfortune after having lost their homes and all their belongings, a group of men and women from the city of Durham, North Carolina came together with the purpose of collecting donations to send to the victims.

We started with the Eta and Iota project, which consisted of holding community events to call for awareness and solidarity in the face of the crisis that the Honduran people were going through.
THANKS to the collaboration of donors from the counties of North Carolina, the state of Virginia and Washington DC, who provided donations of food, clothing, footwear, water, personal hygiene products, cleaning products, baby supplies, mattresses, flashlights, biosecurity products, stoves and online donations through the GoFundMe platform, if it had not been for the collaboration of the community, we would not have been able to send immediate help to the victims.

THANKS to the collaboration and alliance of the company La Hondureña Envios Inc, located in Durham, North Carolina, which was in charge of sending free of charge and delivering the donations to the families of the most affected areas of the Sula Valley on the coast. northern Honduras.
THANK YOU to the founding members of the Eta Project, who worked with a lot of love and commitment to make possible the community activities that were carried out to collect donations.

THANK YOU to Durham´s Univision 40 channel and North Carolina's La Ke Buena radio station and social media platforms that helped us spread the word about the cause and call for awareness and solidarity to the community to participate and support the cause.
The floods caused by hurricanes Eta and Iota in Honduras were devastating where there were dozens of disappeared, thousands of displaced persons, as well as the destruction of houses, possessions, bridges, highways, crops and factories that left the country in a crucial situation.

Honduras, which has already lived in poverty for decades and was further aggravated by the covid-19 pandemic, which increased the rate of poverty and unemployment.
We cannot ignore or forget the crucial situation that Honduras is experiencing, therefore, the members of the Eta and Iota Project decided to continue supporting the families affected by the hurricanes, and by the COVID-19 pandemic. In February 2021, the Color of Hope Foundation was born with the purpose of bringing hope in difficult times, continuing to help families with basic needs and developing programs and projects aimed at the less fortunate.

Helping those in need is not only part of duty, but of happiness.
